    • Kumpoon: If you’re looking for high-quality, authentic Thai cuisine, Kumpoon is the place to go, and it’s only a 10-minute walk from the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center.The dishes are made with fresh ingredients and the casual, relaxed atmosphere make it perfect for grabbing a bite in between conference shows or filling your belly after a long day of networking. Kumpoon has all the old favorites we’ve come to know and love, like Massaman Curry and Pad Thai. The prices are reasonable and the service is always excellent.

 

    • Nahm: For somewhere with a little more fine dining, we recommend you to try Nahm. It’s a Michelin-star Thai restaurant located in the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok hotel, and just a 15 minute walk from the conference.It sticks to the theme of traditional Thai cuisine but is a level above most places you might find yourself in. Nahm has a chic dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning views of the city. The service is excellent, and the knowledgeable, friendly staff are happy to give you recommendations on food and wine.

 

    • Gaggan Anand: If you really want to push the boat out and desire that guaranteed ‘wow’ factor, Gaggan Anand is the place. It was ranked No. 1 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list for four consecutive years from 2014 to 2017 and is known for its molecular gastronomy approach to cooking, which involves using scientific techniques to create innovative and delicious dishes.A word of advice: for this kind of premium experience, you’ll need to book well in advance and be prepared to spend big!

  • Maggie Choo’s: If you are looking to escape momentarily from the conference craziness, Maggie Choo’s is a cozy, 1930s Shanghai-themed speakeasy located in the basement level of the Novotel Bangkok Silom Road hotel. A 25 minute taxi from the conference, it is a popular spot and is known for its intimate atmosphere, signature cocktails and live jazz band that play there every night.The bar’s sophisticated style and unique atmosphere are the perfect place to slow things down for an hour or two.

 

  • Octave Rooftop Bar & Lounge: A rooftop bar overlooking the city with great tunes and a dancefloor. Can you really ask for more than that? The Octave Rooftop Bar is the pick of the bunch if you like a boogie. It has a large dance floor and a resident DJ who plays a mix of house, techno, and hip hop. It’s located on the 45th floor of the Fraser Suites Sukhumvit hotel and serves up stunning views of the Bangkok skyline. Many locals think of it as one of the best bars in Bangkok, so you’re sure to meet some interesting people.

 

  • Red Sky Restaurant & Bar: Although Octave is maybe the best option for this kind of experience, it is a bit of a taxi ride from the conference (25 mins), so if you are looking for somewhere closer to home, the Red Sky Bar is located on the 56th floor of the Centara Grand at CentralWorld building. It does have a smaller dance floor than Octave, but it’s one of the highest rooftop bars in the city and is sure to be bouncing on conference week!

 

EXPLORING THE CITY

  • Silom Night Market: When a movie scene is set in a bustling, colorful, vibrant Asian night market, there’s a good chance the Silom Night Market in Bangkok is what they are trying to recreate. It’s simply a box you must tick on a visit to the city. Open every night from 6 pm to 1 am, it’s a fantastic place to eat, drink, shop and get a real feel for the soul of the city. Located just under a 30 minute walk from the conference, this market is the perfect opportunity to try some of Thailand’s famous and delicious street food.You can find everything from pad thai and som tum to mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream. Many of the stalls also sell beer and cocktails, so it’s also a great place to start or finish a night in the city. It’s a popular spot for both locals and tourists, and its buzzing character makes it the perfect place to take in all the best sights, sounds and smells that Thai culture has to offer.

 

  • Muay Thai Fight Night: Another thing that no trip to Bangkok is complete without is a Muay Thai Fight Night. Lumpinee Stadium, located half an hour taxi from the conference, plays host to an incredible night of Muay Thai and MMA action on Friday the 8th of December. This event promises an atmosphere and pageantry you won’t find anywhere else in the city, not to mention some damn entertaining fights!Food and drinks are also served in the stadium, so you can grab a beer, get pumped and take in the blood, guts and thunder of an authentic Muay Thai Fight Night, from a vantage point so up-close and personal that you’ll be able to smell the sweat!
